The state of Colorado and the Denver Metro Area has experienced a massive population increase over the lat 20 years. As a result, there are more and more new homes and buildings going up. With more construction, more and more painting companies have sprung up, heavily saturating the market. As a long established business (founded 1983), Colorado Painting needed to ensure that their name as the most reliable and affordable painting company in Colorado remained intact.
When Colorado Painting first approached us, they had a strong online presence but sought to improve their position, increase search visibility, and leads to increase overall revenue. With steep competition, this was no easy task.
Our research revealed the size of the challenge, including:
- Majority of rankings at bottom of 1st page or on 2nd page.
- Limited Link landscape – with very little representation on other sites.
- Mostly 2nd page visibility for their marquee keywords such as “Denver painting company” & “Denver commercial painters”.
In other words, they were not reaching a significant portion of their potential client base. Additionally, the majority of their 1st page keywords had minimal search volume.

Keyword Targeting
There was almost no strategic keyword targeting on the Colorado Painting site, so Firestarter SEO created a Keyword Map and began implementing those keywords throughout core areas of their site.
Link Building
With 200 fewer Referring Domains compared to their number 1 competitor, Firestarter SEO had to prioritize getting them listed on as many industry relevant sites as possible. So we undertook a link building campaign consisting of directories and guest posts.
Google Ads
In order to expand on their SEO campaign, Firestarter also created a robust Google Ads campaign in order to create an additional lead gen source. In doing so, we were able to truly compound our digital marketing efforts.
