Web Design
Website Redesign for an Industrial Engineering & Construction Firm

Situation: In A Relationship-Based Business, An Outdated Website No Longer Told An Accurate Story

Progressive Design is a full-service engineering, design and construction firm noted for its capabilities as an equipment integrator. However, its website gave the impression of a small firm and didn’t fully convey culture and capabilities to prospective customers, repeat customers or potential hires.

Solution: A Site Map and Content Strategy Focusing on Capabilities and A Robust Careers Page

The purpose of Progressive Design’s website redesign project was not particularly focused on generating new leads, as their business is very much word-of-mouth and relationship-based. What they needed was a website that would convey the full breadth of their capabilities not only to potential new customers, but to repeat customers, who often are not aware of the company’s breadth of services. Equally important was the need to convey the benefits of working for Progressive Design in a visually appealing way that would accurately portray the company culture and help “close the deal” with prospective employees.

Windmill developed a thoughtful site map and content strategy. Because the client wanted to make sure that the new website would not give the impression that it was rarely updated, we recommended not including a blog or news section at this time. This can be added in the future when they have the bandwidth to create and post content regularly. In the meantime, with the training we provided, the client is able to update the website’s content themselves.

We recommended a site map that showcased Progressive Design’s current, full-service capabilities, divided into three sections labeled Engineering & Design Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC); Technology Services; and Staff Augmentation. We also built a robust careers page where employee testimonials, the benefits package, company culture and open positions are featured.

Progressive Design uses Lever HR for posting their job openings and keeping track of candidates. To make it easier for the human resources team to add new job openings and not have to update both the internal system and the website, we added an API integration with Lever HR to pull in the openings. The API integration is seamless in appearance, allowing the styling of the postings to match the rest of the website.

Progressive Design wanted to incorporate the icon from their logo alongside the text discussing “The Progressive Difference” on the homepage. We added an animation to the graphic to build the icon and make it visually reinforce the way that Progressive describes their innovation, creativity and quality building upon each other.

Progressive Design now has a new, custom website that they are excited to share with potential clients and prospective hires.
